The Camino Seguro Food Drive has started! We are asking for all students to donate canned food and non-perishables to the families served by Camino Seguro. Donations can be left in boxes located in front of the Admin build near the traffic circle.

Camino Seguro is an organization that provides assistance to families that live below the poverty line in Guatemala. Education and nutrition are their main focuses for the children and their families. If you want to know more about this organization and what they do their website is linked here. NHS is happy to announce that we will be selling kimbap for 50Q for two weeks. We will be only accepting pre orders so order your Kimbaps now! Scan the QR code to access the pre-order form. 

There is a Saturday Sewing Session on March 26 from 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM for Hats For Heroes. We'll be inviting parents, teachers, and students from grades 8-12. Community members who are not in NHS or NJHS must fill out this form to participate.

The D.E.I.R Club is excited to host a bake sale on March 8, 2022. This coincides with International Women’s Day, which aligns with the D.E.I.R Club’s goal to initiate and push Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Respect within our school. 

There will be a sheet in case you do not bring money on the day of the bake sale - please make sure to pay the money back. The proceeds will be going to future D.E.I.R Initiatives including a Children’s book in the making seeking to introduce these ideas to the young minds at Colegio Maya.

If you have not done so already, please fill out the consent form. We have been given an extension by the Ministry of Education until Monday, February 28. Please email it to assistant@cm.edu.gt.

Without this form filled in by the 28th, a student will not be allowed to attend school in person when the Semaforo is in Red. While we are in Orange now, we are required to file this paperwork, before the next Semaforo update.

The Silent Auction has been closed, and NHS really appreciates your support. The winners of the auction are updated in the slideshow and the winners of the bids will be contacted soon. This week, we are uniting to support one another and call out bullying in all its forms. Pink Shirt Day will be recognized at Colegio Maya on Tuesday, February 22, and everyone is encouraged to come to school that day wearing pink. In solidarity, we will show our support to make everyone feel included and supported and to identify the ongoing need to address bullying in our schools.

Join us in participating by wearing something pink! If you don't have anything pink, HS STUCO will be selling pink sweatshirts Tuesday before school! 

In discussion with the Ministry of Education, we are moving with regards to filing paperwork for being able to be open for instruction should there be a RED Semaforo.

Congratulations to our AASCA Debate teams! They debated against several other teams in the region on important issues and topics. The Junior Varsity team won 1st place, and one of the JV team members, Roslyn H., was voted best speaker of the tournament. Congratulations to our Varsity team as well, who competed hard and helped to support our Junior Varsity students.

Please keep and donate your clear plastic soda and water bottles (small and medium sizes) to Ms. Sasha in Secondary Art for a recycled bottle chandelier project. There will be bins placed around campus for collection. You can also drop them off in the Secondary office with Ms. Paola or Mr. Kupperstein, and they will be collected.
