Guerreros Por Guate Community Wide Race
IT'S BACK!!! The Guerreros por Guate race is happening again!! Get your running shoes ready because this year the race will take place on May 28th and we hope to see you all there. We will have 5,10, and 15 kilometer running options, so that everyone can participate. All of the money raised by this race is used to support our charity organizations like Alcance, an association that helps endangered children in Guatemala. Stay tuned to learn more about the race and buy your tickets and the date gets closer. KAMS COOKIES ARE BACK.
We will be sending the form to purchase Colegio Maya’s favorite cookies on Monday afternoon. This month, we are going back to the classics with the original Kam’s Chocolate chip cookies.


We want to thank all those in the community that supported us in our toys and diapers donation drive! We will be delivering all of the donations next week. 

Guerreros Por Guate Community Wide Race:
Our annual community-wide race is taking place on May 28th! We hope everyone will join us. There will be options for 5k, 10k and 15k for children and adults. Come walk or run and have a wonderful morning. Please look for information about registration coming soon.

Drive for the Centro de Salud Barbara:
We are still collecting donations for the drive benefiting the Centro de Salud Barbara in San Juan Sacatepéquez. Many of our alumni who are medical students work at this center. We are collecting the following items: toys (new or gently used), acetaminophen for kids, oral hygiene products, children's books in Spanish, diapers (any size), baby wipes, oral rehydration (sueros). We greatly appreciate any help we can get.

We have started selling tickets! This year, all tickets will be sold through the accounting office of Colegio Maya. This is located in the main Administration building, first floor, in front of the reception desk. The cost per ticket is Q100. If you have a child who is 2 years old or younger, they don’t need to pay if they are sitting on your lap. If they are occupying a seat, they must pay. 

Payments must be done in cash (Guatemalan quetzales) only. No checks or dollars will be received. No credit card payments.

The NHS Saturday Sessions are Saturday’s where we invite kids from a few of our service projects, mainly Alcance from mi barrio, to come to our campus. During these sessions, they get an “academic” lesson like math, English, science, and reading as well as a “extracurricular activity" like drama, dancing, and sports.
Every one of these sessions are open for the community to come and support our cause. This being said, if you are interested in coming to help, please reach out to us through email or our advisor's email (kkayayan@cm.edu.gt).

Aside from the classes, we run a sewing session for our service project “Hats for Heroes” where we sew scrub caps for public health care workers around Guatemala. If you are interested in supporting us with this project, please contact us as well!

SATURDAY SESSIONS:
The Saturday sessions are back! We are so excited to be welcoming back the little kids on our campus and welcoming community members that support our cause. Our next session will be March 11th. If you are interested in joining our cause, email is at nhs@cm.edu.gt or speak to any NHS officer. 

DIAPER AND TOY DRIVE
The members of NHS see the value in aiding our community so starting this week the NHS will be collecting diapers, toothbrushes, toothpaste. and toys to later donate to the Centro de Salud Barbara in San Juan Sacatepequez hospital. The toys can be used as long as they are in good condition. We encourage everyone to help us help others.

WARRIOR STORE:
We are bringing new items to the warrior store soon! Stay tuned through our Instagram @thewarriorstorecm and at the entrance of school every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday morning. 

RACE:
Lastly, we are excited to announce that we have an official race date for the annual Guerreros por Guate race! Get ready to run May 28th for a good cause.
