Academic Time

What is it academic time? It is time to do homework, to study for tests and quizzes, to do long term projects, to expand your knowledge in Social Studies and Science, and to read for pleasure. Some students and parents call it “homework time”. Follow these practical guidelines to organize your academic time:

1.     What do I have to do?

        Check agenda, calendar and website

2.     In which order am I going to organize my academic tasks?

Do the hardest/more urgent assignments first

3.     Do I need extra help?

If yes, from whom? Tell that person in advance.

4.     How long will I take in each task?

(This is to estimate the amount of time you need to finish your homework and to learn how to budget your time)

5.     As soon as I finish:

*        Did I follow directions and rubrics?

*        Is my homework complete? And neat?

*        Do I have questions or doubts?

*        Do I need to talk with my teacher before turning in my homework?

6. What do I need for tomorrow?

*        Check schedule, calendar (A/B)

*        Put homework and documents to be signed in folder

*        Put backpack in a convenient regular place

Quick Reminders….

Do your homework in the same place every time – make sure it is a quiet place

Eat a light snack before doing your homework

Do not connect yourself to msn or to the internet if not needed for the assignment

Now, let’s go over some practical strategies given by successful students
