10 secondary students spent Thursday, Oct. 20th with Dr. Miller, Ms. Meek and Mrs. Jauregui helping dig out and clean up a school and homes in Pastores, a village outside of Antigua under the direction of Casa del Nino. Thank you, Amy, Josephina, Shunsuke, Juan Jose, Clara, Eider, Choong, Gaby, Patrick, Dae Rak.
We will have to go back for as we all know, there is much to be done.

Karla Lopez, our Receptionist, has donated her manual typewriter for the school in Pastores. Thank you, Karla!
Ms Jade Constantineau spent Friday evening, October 14th at the Industrial Park in zone 9 packaging donated food in order that it could be transported into outlying communities.
Mr. Aaron Bergmann spent most of Saturday shoveling out homes near Antigua/Jocotenango that are full of mud.

Mrs. Tepikian shares that she and Chantrea have volunteered several times at CONRED sorting shoesand clothing. "There are mountains of donations to sort. Lots of help is still needed at CONRED if anyone is looking for ways to help those in need."

On Saturday, Juan José Morales and Isabel de Morales went to help at “La Guardia De Honor”. Mrs. Morales received a call asking for volunteers to collect and sort clothing and goods. The call came through a phone tree formed by The First Lady, Wendy de Berger, a Colegio Monte María former alumni like Mrs. Morales.

Elementary STUCO has donated 10 cases of water, 6 ½ cases of beans and 50lbs of Incaparina.
The Whartons (Bruce, Julie, Sam and Turner – Sarah was taking SAT’s!!) spent a couple of hours Saturday morning at the Guardia del Honor, one of the centros de acopilacion!

I spent the weekend out in Patores the other side of Antigua where much of the village was badly flooded and damaged, including the little school. Read the complete story.

My daughters and I have been working since Thursday and the whole weekend in our church, wraping and packing diapers and food. The Menonite Central Church has gotten help from outside, but there are still a lot of things to do. Mrs. Blanca Lou.

Various Staff Members and Friends Volunteer

  • Ms. Zea worked at the Red Cross all day last Thursday when we cancelled school.
  • This Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Amy, Mr. and Mrs. Dunigan-AtLee, Ms. Rosenfeld, Ms. Lee, Mrs. Maldonado and Dr. Miller spent the afternoon at Conred’s warehouse sorting medicines and Mrs. Maldonado and Dr. Miller went back again to help on Sunday morning.
