Education: Bachelor of Science from Tri State University, and an MA from Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan. Courses taken at the PTC: Instructional Supervision, Creating and Administering an Effective School, Leadership & Group Dynamics. Courses offered: Elementary Principal Reason for living in Guatemala: Guatemala is my first teaching experience out of the United States. The International School Services contacted me about the first grade position here and I immediately responded to them. After 5 years I am still excited to be here and be a part of the family at Maya. Colegio Maya and Guatemala has supported my growth as an educator, current administrator and as a world traveler. Through this experience I now have a greater perspective of the diversity that our world holds and the challenges we face. Time spent in Guatemala: I arrived in Guatemala on July 29, 2003. The past 5 years have been incredible, climbing volcanoes, hanging out with great friends, exploring river caves, Mayan ruins, diving with sharks, snorkeling and relaxing at the beach watching beautiful sunsets. Also, most importantly is the traveling within the interior of this colorful country and the people I’ve met while doing so. Reason for choosing Colegio Maya: Upon receiving information through ISS regarding a position here I checked out the website and was impressed with all the school had to offer. Quality of Experience in Guatemala and Colegio Maya: The quality of the experience here has been phenomenal. I've learned so much about different cultures both in and outside of the school. Interests: My interests include traveling, learning more about Guatemala, and continue my acquisition of Spanish which I’m finding is a challenge. Reading, photography, SCUBA diving and living life to it's fullest. Family: In Michigan I have a 28 year old son who is a successful personal trainer and body builder. My daughter is living, working, and persuing a modeling career in Hermosa Beach, California. My father is living life to it’s fullest in Florida where he is out dancing 4-5 nights a week.
