TURTLES!!

Out of the thousands of eggs that sea turtles lay every year on beaches around the world, perhaps as few as one out of five hundred survive to adulthood. Beyond predation from birds and other animals, people are one of the largest reasons hatchling turtles never make it to the sea. Beginning this week, through mid October, Colegio Maya’s Environmental Science classes will be raising funds for three of the turtle hatcheries that exist in Guatemala. Polo shirts - Q100 and T-shirts - Q75 will be sold to all grade levels, and there will also be a bake sale to raise money for this project on October 3rd. Last year, Colegio Maya students raised almost $2,000 for the hatcheries. With your help, we can surpass that amount this year, and make a significant contribution to our country’s wildlife.
