Grade 4 Homework Policy

 

Dear parents and students,

 

Most evenings students will have homework. In addition to regularly scheduled assignments, this may also include work that was not completed at school, independent reading, preparing for a test, or working on a long-term project.

 

Please read the following contract to ensure that you are clear about what is expected this year. Students are responsible for writing all assignments in their agendas. Please discuss the agenda and homework with your child each night.

 

Late Homework

When a student is missing homework they will not receive credit for that assignment unless accompanied by a note from a parent.  However, they will be asked to complete missing homework on their own time.

 

Plagiarism

Plagiarism can range from failing to cite an author for ideas incorporated into a student's paper to cutting and pasting paragraphs from different websites to having a tutor complete a portion of an assignment or to copying work from other students.  All work that is handed in must be in the student’s own words and properly referenced. Work that is not completed by a student will receive an automatic zero and parents notified.

 

Absences and Vacations

It is our policy that work missed due to a vacation or absence needs to be made up. Students have one day for each day missed to make up work. If you know your child will be absent in advance, it is helpful to let us know and we will prepare the work beforehand.
