Dear Second Grade Parents,

A few mothers have arranged a Pizza Going Away Lunch for Kiki, Madeleine and Mariana on Friday, 10/31 during our regular lunch hour.   The students do not need to bring a lunch that day.  If your child does not eat pizza feel free to send them with a lunch.

Thank you.

Homework

Homework is assigned each Monday through Thursday, and should take about 15 – 30 minutes each night to complete.  Students will take the homework packet home in a HOMEWORK FOLDER, complete the homework, and get a parent signature on the record sheet.  All homework is assigned on Monday and is due on FRIDAY. Reading:  According to research, children become better readers by reading at their ability level. Students are required to read for a minimum of 15 minutes daily.

Incentives

Students will receive "B Bucks and D Bucks" (play money) for outstanding work, excellent behavior and acts of kindness.  Students who turn in all homework on time with parent signatures will receive "B Bucks and D Bucks."  Play money can be redeemed for prizes.

Assignments

Classroom assignments are generally due the next school day after they are assigned if not finished in class.  Class time is always given to complete assignments.  Students may need to finish an assignment at home if it is not completed during the given class work time.  This is in addition to the normal assigned homework.

Thursday Folders

Work from the week will come home for you to look at each week in a “Thursday Folder.” Please remove any work that has been graded and keep it at home.  Any unfinished work should be completed and returned to school as soon as possible.

Book Reports and Projects

Each month students will read a book at their reading level and complete a project. Projects are due at the end of the month.  Students will share book projects with the class.  Some class time will be given for reading and working on the project.  Students may need to do more at-home reading in order to complete the book and project by the deadline

SUPER STAR

Every 2 weeks a different student will be our special "SUPER STAR “.  This person will have his/her own bulletin board in the classroom to decorate and will receive special privileges, like using the special roller chair and extra computer time.
