2nd Grade – Sra. Kristine Bernhard de Arriola

Reading

  • Welcome to the adventurous world of reading!
  • Your child will be checking out a book in Spanish from the library every other Wednesday to read at home.
  • It is recommended that he/she practices reading out loud everyday for at least 10 minutes.
  • He/she may be assisted by anyone who knows Spanish.
  • Since we will be doing various activities in class related to the class theme, found in their library books, it must be returned to class the day before Library day (Tuesday).
  • Please make sure that your child keeps the library book inside the Spanish folder to help him/her remember to return it to my class rather than to their grade class or library.
  • I am sure that your child will expand his vocabulary, knowledge and imagination through the wonders that await them inside each book!

Speaking

  • Speaking in Spanish at home, in class, and outside of class is the best way for your child to improve that skill as well as listening.
  • If time allows him/her to socialize with Spanish speakers, watch T.V. in Spanish after homework has been done, practice Spanish online and listen to Spanish songs on the radio, you will hear the results!

Supplies

  • Pencil case to remain in Spanish class containing: pencils, 2 different colored pens, crayons, scissors, eraser, glue
  • A small soft cover notebook (6” x 7”, around 40 pages) to be used as an agenda
  • 2 pocket or envelope folders to carry assignments, the agenda, and the library book
  • (All supplies should be labeled with your child’s name.)
  • A bilingual dictionary Spanish-English or Spanish- student’s native language to be kept at home

When Absent

  • Students must make up the class work as well as the assigned homework and turn it in as soon as possible.
  • If the student missed a library day, he/she must go to the library on their own to return the book they read and check out a new one.
