Reason for living in Guatemala:
I have made my home here in Guatemala. Initially, in the 1980's I came as a Peace Corps volunteer. In the early 1990's I eagerly accepted an offer to teach at Maya and return to my former Peace Corps country. After leaving Colegio Maya once to teach in Taiwan, I returned to marry my wife (Guatemalan) and start a family. Guatemala is our home.

Time spent in Guatemala:
19 years and starting my 17th year at Colegio Maya

Reason for choosing Colegio Maya:
Colegio Maya allows me the opportunity to practice the type of educational that I believe in .... The opportunity to create a meaningful learning connection that is caring, dynamic and fun.

Quality of Experience in Guatemala and Colegio Maya:
I highly recommend the educational experience that Colegio Maya provides. My own daughter attends Maya and from my position as the Curriculum Facilitator and as a Parent, I am extremely pleased.

Interests:
I truly enjoy being outdoors for a walk or to paddle, peddle, climb or just sit and watch nature on her way. I love to look for out of the way places to kayak. I continue to paddle the Chiquimulilla Canal along Guatemala's Pacific Coast and hope to provide a day paddlers guide. Additionally, a link between personal and professional interests is my company, Ascending Ventures, Inc., that provides experiential education and training opportunities based at my challenge ropes course. My vice? Reading Mystery Novels!

Family:
My wife, Rosalina, and my daughter Alexis (who loves to come to school each day!).

Future plans:
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…. I can’t tell you right now, it’s a secret!
