Social Studies

     Having finished our unit on ancient Greece this quarter in social studies students we will be moving onto studying about ancient Rome. We will begin with some general lessons on the geography, daily life, and accomlishments of this historical period. Students will then work in on a research project that examines various aspects of ancient Roman life. As this is our first research project in fifth grade we will be focusing on using a variety of sources of information including books, internet and encyclopedias, and recording those sources in MLA format. As well, students will learn how to record facts into their own words while keeping the information concise and to the point.
