Education: B.A. in English and Secondary Education from Milligan College; M.A. in English from East Tennessee State University Courses offered: Secondary English Language Arts; 11th grade AP English Language and Composition Reason for living in Guatemala: I have a childhood friend who lives in Guatemala and I have always loved the Guatemalan culture. When I read about how wonderful Colegio Maya is I knew it was the perfect fit. I have always wanted to see in person the varying and unique nature that Guatemala has to offer. Time spent in Guatemala: This is my first year in Guatemala. Reason for choosing Colegio Maya: Once talking to the director, principals, and faculty members, I realized that there was no other place in the world like Maya. That if I wanted to have the best teaching environment then Maya was the way to go. Quality of Experience in Guatemala and Colegio Maya: I am in love with Guatemala and continue to fall deeper in love every new place I go. I feel so honored and lucky to be at Maya because I have been supported by all of the staff and the students are simply amazing. Interests: I enjoy reading, writing, running, hiking, volleyball, swimming, tennis, photography, cooking, challenging myself, and traveling. Family: My parents live in St. Louis, MO. Future plans: I want to go back to school to get my doctorate in Education to work in education reform and also to earn my doctorate in English Literature. Also, I hope to travel and write more. |
