I'm definitely looking forward to visiting Guate at some point. Regarding my life: Currently, I'm living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. About to finish up in May of 08 with a degree in marketing and a full time job offer from Miller Brewing Co. (Due to recent merger, now called MillerCoors Co). Currently, I am interning at the New Orleans Hornets and enjoying learning the various aspects of putting on a live basektball game. Looking forward to graduating and moving onto the next phase of my life. Staying in New Orleans at least until Oct or Nov. Might stay or move to a different city depending on what positions become available. Maya was a great place to go to highschool and anyone feeling bored and decided to read this would probably agree. Most of time I was in ESL with Mrs. Davilla, so might not interact too much with classmates. Later I went to Argentina for high school and met Mrs. Ingram (math teacher) and Mr. King (PE teacher) at a high school basketball competition. I was at Maya when it was at the second house, I think. I know there were kids in every grade. I was in the second grade. I remeber we had painted packing crates to play in and I don't think much else in terms of playground equipment. |

This is a great website. What I value most from Colegio Maya is that it made me open to many cultures and made me, in a way, global. I left Maya in 1992 and went back to El Salvador to finish high school and begin medical school. Funny how things work out. Due to Hurricane Katrina, I have relocated to Miami from New Orleans. Lost my business but am starting over.
Some family and friends moved to Miami as well, so things are not that bad. Had the opportunity to reunite with Romina Roman and Mariela from Maya... That has been wonderful! Hopefully we can have another reunion here in Miami, so this time around I can actually attend.

This is un-believable. I was doing some research and I found that there is a web page for the school. You will all remember me from my long hair and black tee- shirts. I left Maya and joined the Marine Corps and spent 4 1/2 years going from one hot spot to another (Gulf War, Somalia and some other places). This is the best part... I am a Police Corporal and squad supervisor in Florida and have been for the past 9 years. Can you believe that. I am also with the Air Force Reserves and am a member of a Combat Search and Rescue group. I have been married for 14 years and have a 3 year ols daughter (Jessica) who is my life. Wow... Maya. I know I was only there one year, but it was probably the greatest year of my school life... Aside from senior year maybe. I miss it like crazy, I miss everyone like crazy... Amazing to find the Mayan School. I was 7 and 8 at the time, but remember friends like Nori Tsuru, Bruce Turner etc I beleive the director at that time was Mrs Rose Bennet. Believe it or not...I actually work quite a bit with Guatemala. As natural resources specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington D.C., several of the projects I am involved with are in Guatemala and elsewhere in the region. It would be fun to meet up when I go to Guatemala! On the family front...yes, I am married since 2002...with Sofia and we have a 2 year old son named Gustav. |

Hello all. I figured it was time for an update. I moved to Chicago last year, and am in the litigation department at mid-sized firm. I got married this spring in a 5-minute courthouse ceremony, with only our immediate families in attendance. We're planning the "real" thing for some time next year, although for now we're both in denial about planning it. My husband, Josh, is starting an alternative energy company.
