I was reminiscing of the days in Guate and I wanted to know how all of my old classmates are. I attended Colegio Maya from 1st to 6th grade. If I stayed in Guate I would have graduated with the class of 1997. Instead, graduated from Seton Hall University in New Jersey. During my last year at Seton Hall I crossed paths with Alex Badillo ( He was there in 1990). Seeing him brought back so many memories. I must say hello to Freya and congratulations to Melissa Leon. If either one of you know anything about our old classmates please contact me. Freya did you keep in contact with Nicole Y. from Holland? Whatever happened to Christina Pilot, Isabel de Sola, Juan and the other. Feel free to contact me. Jill Ocasio - Class 1997
It's been a long time and Maya looks very different since I left in 1991. It seems as though my class has been less than enthusiastic in updating their information. Where is everyone? For an update on me. I've been living in NYC since 1996, I was married in October of last year, (two Maya alumni were in attendance, Rachel and Jose Oromi) After graduating from Syracuse I worked for the City of New York, the White House, Hillary Clinton's Senate Campaign and for the Senator once she took office. (I guess that obviously states my political affiliations) In 2002 I made the jump into the private sector where I serve clients specifically with location and/or development incentives — particularly for corporate clients. Ray Ocasio - Class 1992
It has been such a long time and yet it seems so lively...all of my childhood I spent in Guatemala and in Colegio Maya ... They were truly happy days... ! Yuri Tsuru - Class 1975

Back in 1959 ... the parents founded the Mayan School ... our classrooms were in a series of converted houses. Many of the parents taught. I recall my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Kepkey was the wife of a missionary. I was a small school .. maybe 60 kids -- and very tight-knit as well.
Richard Gonzalez - Class 1971
I am so glad I found this site but dissapointed not more people I know (or remember) have posted information here. My parents had to leave Guatemala under the usual circumstances (meaning don't come back any time soon) but I grew up there and really loved the country and missed it terribly. If anyone who sees this remembers me (even briefly) please e-mail me and let me know what you are doing. I am one of those left wing liberal lawyers living in Memphis, Tennessee. If any of you ever get to Memphis or anywhere close please look me up. I have a big house in Germantown (a suburb about 30 minutes outside the city) and there is plenty of room. I am still pretty wild and crazy but a lot older. Hope to hear from some of you soon.

Yet I often visited and got to hear from many of the people I once has as friends. Currently, I am studying in New York and working after living in Massachusetts, El Salvador, and Africa after my Maya experience. Drop me a line, a note and let me know how you are doing.

I lived in Guatemala during violent times. The Maya was a safe haven and a really comfortable place to be. I do not remember many of my fellow classmates there were a couple of good friends who can contact me at any time on my email. You know who you were. Best to all, Roger

I study at "Jasper High School" I'm in 9th grade. I'm a grade higher that the real grade I'm supposed to be in. I was in kindergarden till 2nd grade with Sasha DeBeausset. I have 2 sisters. One of them also came to Colegio Maya to study, her name is Alexandra Anyen, she was here only for kindergardenw hen I was in 2nd grade. I live in Plano. Texas now. I'm having a good time and enjoying myself with all the activties I'm in like Student Council, French Club, HOSA... and for my outside of campus, I volunteer and do community service most of my time, I still play piano. I'm in Drama classes and soon will go back to chinese dancing and Jazz. I'm the youngest freshman, some girls who also skipped already turned 14 before January 1st, sp that really doesn't count. But I'm known as the "cute, small girl". I hope I can talk to my Colegio Mayan friends/teachers again. It's been too log since the last conversation, (for me of course).

actually class of 2002... I have to say Emerson College is amazing. I left thinking I knew a lot about film and TV but I came here and learned things that I never knew existed in movies. Not to mention the fact that I feel like I can make it in the entertainment industry with the knowledge I am acquiring. That said, I wouldn't be here without the very gifted faculty that Maya has. For everybody left in Maya, I have to say live it up and make sure you make the best of it.

Hi everyone! I don't know if anyone really remembers me, but I think this is such a cool flashback (almost like a memory of something I watched on tv). Well, seeing all your names in writing has not only been a confirmation of that memory, but it has also served as a reminder of how life can change so dramatically. Want to know something funny? I still have all those videos of everone (even the bonfire outside my house and some of the senior trip (for those of us who can't remember what happened)). They might be a little dusty now, but they still are just as fun to watch.
