A.        School Improvement Committee

The original School Improvement Committee was made up of members from the previous Long Range Planning Committee as well as new members from the faculty and parent community. The Committee has been chaired by Todd Amani, a member of the school board. In beginning it’s work, the School Improvement Committee identified five priority ideas/proposals for action to improve Colegio Maya. Each of the proposals were then assigned to a sub-committee that invited and included additional members of the Maya learning community. Through various meetings and continuous dialogue, the Sub-Committees tried to flush out in more detail what each of them meant in practical terms and what specific actions would be required to accomplish them. The initial School Improvement Committee then looked for feedback from the broader school community - students, parents, teachers, staff - regarding these ideas, proposals. A formal retreat was held where equal numbers of faculty, parents and students attended to discuss the proposed initiatives in-depth. The Sub-Committees then synthesized the feedback and established priorities among those ideas presented and developed action plans for each of the identified strands. The formal School Improvement Plan was developed and once again shared with the community for feedback before being submitted to the School Board for their approval.
