Performance-based
measures: PE Student Profiles/checklists
The secondary physical education program has initiated the implementation of a student checklist system for the various athletic activities that are taught. These checklists allow for sequential development and tracking of individual skills, game-specific skills, rules, strategies and information about fair play as they pertain to the specific athletic activity. In addition to tracking the students’ progress, these checklists help students to identify activities that they are competent and/or proficient in (NASPE Standards) and what items they need to work on in order to become competent and/or proficient.
In addition, the secondary physical education program uses specific academic exercises to help students goal set and to track their own progress in development of their own fitness throughout the different years of study at Maya. Both sets of information may be taken by the student to their next school when moving, so as to provide more specific information of their performance.
